• In a way, you've just said what I might have .. I like them all!! The two Paul Newman films you mention were indeed good ones. Think one of his wins was for his role as the pool player. Not "The Hustler", the 1st time he played that character - but the sequel. (Can't remember the name of it!)
  For me, every single one of those seven people are FULL of talent. Talk about bringing depth and intensity to every role!! I'll always have Bette Davis's "All About Eve" as a personal favorite.

• Oh, yes should have mentioned "All About Eve"..I loved it!! I just found out not long ago the Laurence Olivier was married to Vivien Leigh. Now, another one that I loved was Elizabeth Taylor - "Raintree County", "Little Women"..and more..I liked some of her older movies the best. I saw "The Hustler" and of course his acting was great..it just wasn't a chic-flick for me.;-)

• Agree with you about Elizabeth Taylor. Some will immediately launch into her personal life .. just as they do with so many others .. and just as the tabloids do day in and day out. But in my mind? No matter how many husbands or what size her body has been at any given time, there is no denying her intensity or talent. From "National Velvet" .. to "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" you mentioned earlier. • Luckily, you've never been afraid of "blasphemy"! You just share what you think, feel .. or what you've experienced.
  However, "of course" I'm going to disagree about Meryl Streep. I think she's talented and shows a good deal of generousity and class when interviewed. (And younger actors have many times thanked her for her help, guidance, mentorship, kindness ...)
  Disagree about Bette Davis too, although I must say I enjoyed her MUCH more in her earlier work than when she was older. Not so with Katharine Hepburn who I liked at all points in her career .. young, middle age and elderly. Magic throughout. Ditto that now that I've said that .. for Paul Newman.
  Spencer Tracy I liked much more later in his life than earlier. How on earth could anyone not like Tracy and Hepburn TOGETHER?
  Let's set up an outdoor BBQ and invite lots of interesting folks so we can speak with them for awhile!!!

• I'd not seen this video before. It's great!! (Playing even as I type this) The music is perfect for the "classic poses" they're showing. And you know .. as the images go by? I KNOW THESE PEOPLE. These are what I'd call the "heavy hitters".
  Glad the list of seven brought this to mind "and" what Hollywood "can" create. (where that bar really is set)
