Help answer this question below.
um, can't you just DO it? I don't think you need to talk to your doctor about this one.
You do not need to consult anyone - this is your baby - do what feels right. Now if you want o learn more - then talk to a nurse or breast feeding consultant, but by God if that is what you want to do - then do it!
I would think her pediatrician depending on her age(I assume she is still very young) she is going to need a supplement to your breast milk (formula). I just want to say that there are many disadvantages to using formulas, but for whatever reason you don't want to breastfeed, talk to her doctor and then if it makes you feel better take to your doctor as well.
*EDIT*
Whuh, I read this very wrong at first. You DO want to breast feed. Are you still producing milk? You probably should make an appointment with both doctors... it may be hard for her to latch if you have never breastfeed her plus she may not like the change in taste her doctor can help you with that...
if your daughter was just born, she will try to breast feed on her own if you put her there. If she has already been bottle fed, then it will be difficult to get her to change but not impossible.
The people that helped moms learn how to when I had my daughter said that its easier with a pump if the baby has been bottle fed at first, the milk won't come as quickly from the breast as the bottle and baby can get fussy and want the bottle, they showed me to get a warm towel and massage the breast to make it start flowing, the latching I don't know about because I wound up unable to breastfeed due to complications after they started trying to coach me at the hospital. I had to go through some pain letting my milk "dry up" and gave in and used the pump a few times, the massaging and warm towel or shower worked with the flow starting. Good luck, enjoy being a new mommy, I have :)
My son was in ICU for the first few days and was bottle fed. Getting him to latch on was a pain the the assets. There is an organization out there dedicated to breastfeeding and probably has more info than the docs. But be careful, their views were a bit,.. unusual.
Has your baby been born yet? If so you will have to see a lactation consultant to show you how. If not go to antenatal classes to learn how.
It will depend on how old your daughter is. If she is newborn or a week or so old shouldn't be any problem. to be sure i would ask your OB.
I have a week, how do I get my 1yr old to drink cow's milk? She has been strictly breastfed.

You're reading I have decided that I do want to breastfeed my daughter. Do I talk to her pediatrician about this or should I make an appointment with my doctor?
