Two things: 1) I think that people should be happy with whatever hair they naturally have. I don't really see why people obsess so much. Half the time, straightened hair looks fake, anyway. Don't be ashamed of wavy hair. 2) I think that it isn't healthy for the hair.

If you use a flat iron, curling iron, or anything like those, you can ruin your hair even more, it causes split ends. You should be proud of the type of hair you have. If you want to use those products you could use Thermasilk, it will reduce the time it takes to cause split ends to your hair.

Elitheeli is right about being happy with your hair. But as for being healthy, it really isn't. But there are shampoos and conditioners designed to restore health to damaged hair. Limit the number of times you straighten. Only do it when you feel you need to, and don't turn the heat up too high. Don't use a steel straightener, it's horrible for your hair. Use ceramic. And always use conditioner when you shower.

Its not good for your hair..but if you must its very important to use a high heat oil based spray while doing so..like "catwalks camera ready" or "Str8" while it wont stop all damage it can help keep it from getting as bad as it will without it

If you ever decide you want to curl or perm your hair, it probably won't take. That is if you use the flat iron a lot over an extended period of time.

My wife gets plenty of practice straightening or flattening my head with the flat iron.

If you straighten it everyday, u must use a protectant. Try REDKIN Heat Glide.
