Yes, in many states. But I would insist that the couple purchase a dictionary including the word, "allowed."

They are allowed to adopt in every state but Florida, where it's banned. Gay people can foster children but cannot legally adopt. It's a hotly debated subject here and one not likely to change in teh near future.

Yes, but the laws vary by state.
Here is a site with a list of rights state by state, just scroll down to the bottom of the webpage:

In most places, they are allowed adopt loudly or quietly. It seems only fair given that gay children more often have to put up with straight parents.
    .
There are some states that make it more difficult. I'd recommend a site dedicated to gay legal issues to look into your personal state/country:

Firstly, gay people can also be good, decent, law abiding individuals so they would teach their children well. Secondly, there are lots of orphans in the world waiting for someone to give them a home and if any laws prohibit gay people from adopting children is a law of evil thinkers stemed from ignorance.

It depends where you live. Adoption is legal in Guam, Andorra, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom and some parts of Canada

For those countries: the U.S., Denmark, Germany, Iceland, and Norway allow "stepchild-adoption" so that the partner in a civil union can adopt the natural (or sometimes even adopted) child of his or her partner. In the Republic of Ireland and some other countries, individual persons, whether heterosexual/homosexual, cohabiting/single may apply for adoption.

For the US: Florida, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah and Virginia have specific laws than ban gay or lesbian individuals from adopting. California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington State and Washington, D.C. explicitly allow second-parent adoption by same-sex couples statewide, either by statute or court ruling

Same sex marriage and the adoption of children is allowed in some countries like The Netherlands and I think recently, in Spain as well. Also, lesbian couples there have access to IVF.
That's a good thing because same sex families can be as happy and functional as hetero families.

Not in Arkansas, despite my best efforts to vote against the legislation this past November. Actually, the only way you can now adopt or foster in Arkansas is if you're a married couple; single people got screwed by it, too. Yee haw.

yes thay can adopt, but personally i think it is a confusion for the children. the kids will grow up and be all mixed up, thay will fill like it is ok to date the same sex. that is sicking to put kids thru all of that.

i think they should i understand most peoples objection with it but in the long run your denying someone of love a child they can call their son even if they are not blood related, just my opinion.

Depends on location. In the US its legal in all states but Arkansas and Florida. In some countries, like Brazil and the UAE its illegal.

I'm a licensed foster parent, and I'm gay. It's possible in the state where I live. Over the past 8 years I've fostered about a dozen(not counting respite care) boys. So-far all of them old enough to have reached the age of expressing a sexuality (they range now from 15 to well into their 20s) have turned out to be straight. I've never adopted, most of my kids were eventually reunited with their birth families, two aged out of the system while still living with me. I but know others gays & lesians who have.
