I am not, but I am a nutritionist.
So far there has not been any studies (that are long term) that show the efficacy of this diet.
In saying that, I would then say that the science behind this diet is sound, and very logical.
The diet appears to be one that you can maintain as a lifestyle, thus has much more chance of being successful. The difficult part is learning the GI of all the foods, as GI is not intuitively determined like fatty foods are (example - mashed potato, high GI, fried potato like chips is low GI due to fat stopping the quick absorption of carbs).
As long you use a sensible approach and avoid fatty foods as well as high GI foods you will lose weight.
But at the end of the day - weight loss is simple maths, less energy in that what you expend and weight loss will occur.
Please remember to exercise and eat a diet with many fresh foods in it. Good luck with your journey.

I did it for a couple of months with very good results. Actually I found it to be pretty common sense in choosing foods. It only gets a little tricky with fruit: apples good, watermelon and oranges bad, etc.
