Help answer this question below.

With a budget of about 200 ~ 400 euro, what's the best route to take to end up with the best performing desktop pc for gaming and other somewhat demanding software. Second-hand? Buying individual parts? PS: I know not to expect much of a hi-end gaming pc

    Is there a European equivalent of Craigslist? I've managed all sorts of deals that way.

    Are any of your friends getting ready to upgrade? Many of my systems have been hand-me-downs from gamer friends who needed the latest and greatest.
    A 3.4 GHz P4 with 2GB RAM and a 256 MB Radeon 9850 may not sound like much, but it stays over 60 FPS on the games I play and I only paid $50(US) for it; it would've cost me at least three times that in a second-hand store. Hell, you *might* even find one in a dumpster now that the i7 is out.

    Building your own from parts is tricky unless you have a RETAIL Windows install disc, or are planning to build a Linux box. If your old PC came with an OEM Windows disc, then your new system will *not* have Windows, and you'll spend so much getting a retail copy that you won't have any money left over to buy hardware.
    (It is possible to get a PIRATED copy of Windows for free, but I do not condone/endorse such activity.)
