Help answer this question below.
Yes, you can pray for them but you canno pray them into heaven. Once a person is dead, that is it there is no second chance. It is better to pray for the living and knowing they will go to heaven.
Its not referred to anywhere in the Bible.
It can be compherting to the relitives, to let God know you will be at peace if they are at peace
NO...their soul is in God's Grace now, praying for it would be inane...HE will judge it on THAT DAY so prayers would be void,empty...what did Jesus say,"let the dead, bury their dead", although HE was speaking of "dead in faith" buying their own ...God is of the Living, not of the dead...physically and spiritually....
NO, it is not right ,Biblically based...God wants our prayers and thoughts and deeds to be of the LIVING not the dead...if this were so, if visiting a grave ,fresh flowers, etc. would have a grave impact on man's Salvation!! but it does not and neither does praying for dead soul......it belongs to God now to do with as will be HIS WILL and our prayers can't change that..pray for the Living, is productive, the dead are no longer productive...:)justme
I do not think there is a right or wrong on that issue. If you want to pray for someone who has passed on, and because it is unknown whether there is an afterworld, heaven or hell, depending what one believes may exist,to want to pray in hopes that a loved one is at peace. And if you feel praying helps you deal with your loss, and if there is that chance because of the unknown, why not, do it.
Based on a LITERAL interpretation, it's not....apart form being pointless....
What would be the point? Once dead, too late.
AS A BIBLE SAYS THE NEXT STEP FOR MEN AFTER DEATH IS JUDGMENT. THE BEST THING IS MAKING SURE THAT YOU ARE ALREADY SAVED BY ACCEPTING JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR WHILE ARE ALIVE.

Asking Catholics here as I believe you have a solid foundation for your faith. I am was born into a protestant family and therefore was wondering: Are Protestants failing God and society? Why would that be? Genuine question with little preconception.
