My gmail account is my default spam box I use whenever I get nosy about some silly offer i have no real intention of actually buying so they just automatically delete things after a certain date.. If I has to take a gander i would guess upwards of 50,000, but a lot go to the spam folder anyway.
Whenever I empty the spam box it takes about 5 minutes to fill completely back up. ;)
I read stuff that remotely interests me, but the vast majority is rubbish..

Zero. That is the first thing I do each morning..check my email. During the day I check it at least once more, especially if I am expecting one from a family member or friend. I don't "get" people who check email sporadically and not daily. Happy Saturday! :)

None. Firefox always opens on my inbox every time I start browsing. I first see what is on the inbox.
I always keep a tab opened for my inbox. Other browing I do on different tabs. Frequently I take a look at the inbox tab and if there is a message it shows it. I click that tab atonce, read the message and either reply or save it in the appropriate folder.

I have four emails I regularly check and another I only check every now and then 'cos yahoo sucks and is full of spam lol, but have an unknown number of unread emails which have large attachments. I'm on dial up, so unless I sneak in to check them all out while I'm at work, they sit there, for the day i give in and get broadband at home!

Once I had like about 200 but I deleted most of them and all together my unread and read is about 300 and my email is Gmail on this one.
I only have a little bit on AIM cause I always read them and delete them.
