NO, this would mean that even some people from USA couldn't pass it. Besides, what about tourists who come to USA a lot? A foreign DL is only good for 10 days in most states.
-
Since they are applying for a license, they are no doubt citizens, if they can't read English it would not be fair to force them to take it in a language they didn't know.
-
Not in German, not in French, not in Swedish, not in Russian, not in Yiddish, not in Swahili. not in Spanish, not in Italian, but because we are all united by a common language, the only logical choice is English. Same as the international language for commercial airline pilots.

Not until English is in fact stated to be the language of the USA. Since as far as I know no state has made into law nor has the federal government made into law that the English language is the language of this country. So there is no basis for that requirement, to have English only testing. Do I believe we should choose one language for this country? Yes and take it from there.
-
Yes I believe that if you come to this country and want to become a citizen you should at least have a decent grip on the language that our constitution and every other piece of legislation is written in.
-
Drivers should be required to take and pass a driver's test in the language used on traffic signs. I'm not sure if some states have signage in dual languages or not.
-
It isn't just one state, it's the United States. And I am not nearly as worried about being fair to someone as I am about having my personal property, life and limb destroyed. If they can't read a street sign, they shouldn't drive. We can't - why should they?!
-
Not until the constitution states that there is an official language - currently that is not the case! Ok, so signs may be in english, but signs can be learned, as everyone who has driven through Europe can attest - i can drive successfully in countries whose languages I do not speak, by learning the signs in advance!
-
I believe that if you are going to live in the USA, you should speak and read passable english. I would never consider moving to another country unless I had a basic understanding of their language. As a side note, if you have lived here all your life, went to school here and can't read english, we have a serious problem!
-
Yes, of course
-
Yes that is our national language, in Florida its required to have a foreign language learned in High School mainly Spanish I believer that's unfair.
-
Yes!!
-
A resounding yes!
-
Well all of the signs are in english not in any other language, i think this is the problem, i think the US accomidates everyone too much and they make it easier for people not to learn english and really it is not for anyone else benefit but there own, i mean if we go to another country we are not accomidated you either understand or you don't.
-
I believe signs should be bilingual (English and the second most common language of the state) and testing administered in those two languages, to increase coverage of the population.
