No. I wouldn't give up on AB. I'd do one of two things:
1)Keep a mental list of the people who do that and don't answer their questions anymore.
2)Keep in mind the possibility that someone else might read and benefit greatly from your answer and take satisfaction in that.

Nope. I am guilty of that. I certainly do not do it on purpose, but I have recently visited older questions and noticed that I had a LOT more answers than I was notified about.
Don't give up on AB because some of us are losers.

If the aggravation and anger you feel outweighs the good feelings you get from AnswerBag, then, yes, I would consider walking away.
To me, the only reason for being on this site is to take pleasure in asking and answering questions. There is plenty of aggravation in life that I can't walk away from; I don't need to go looking for anymore. Good luck.

You shouldn't count on the questioner to always respond. There are just too many questions on here being asked and too many answers being given. Besides, your answers aren't just for the questioner. They are for everyone who wants to read them. Myself, I only comment when I have something to say. And, I don't think anyone should be obligated to pull things out of their ass just so that they won't appear to be blowing off anyone. I do at least almost always give points though.

I completely understand your frustration and can fully sympathise with the situation. I too find it irritating.
As far as whether you should " just give up on AB " I would say definitely maybe. I have taken many "breaks" over my time here. It sometimes helps to regain your perspective.
When you get right down to it this is just another Q & A site in a public forum out of hundreds of sites like it on the world wide web. Nothing more. I find some of the same problems with most forums I frequent.
Sit back, take a deep breath, and try to remember that stress is the condition created when the mind over-rides the body's basic, primal, instinct to choke the shit out of some asshole that desperately needs it.

A lot of times the feedback doesn't show up or drops off the 5th page before it can be noticed. Try leaving a comment to 'remind' the user.
I've had questions that had many answers I missed but never received the notification of an answer. I went through all my questions again at year end...but that is just impossibly time consuming to do regularly.

my my my my my my! anger? oh dear me. this is the place for you. do not leave. its all in your expectations. one of the worse characteristics for someone. I bet you have unfullfilled expectations in many areas of your every day life. just because someone doesnt comment, doesnt mean they didnt take time to read it and understand it. there are many unsung heroes on this site. are you here for the points? we all are. you spend most of your time answering questions and not so much time asking questions. maybe a little more balance would be a plus for your attitude. its only in your imagination that you think your answer is ignored. you cant control people on this site. sorry.

In Yahoo Answers, you get a week at most for responses and points for a question, and only one person gets a BA (Best Answer). Here in AB, you can get a response and 3 points after, say, 6 and 2/3 months, you asked a question.

You're reading People ask questions on here and then either just blow off those who answer them, or don't respond to the answers at all! Many times I spend a great deal of time crafting an answer. It angers me when my answer is ignored. Should I just give up on AB?

No my friend. Captain Harley is a very sweet gentleman who kindly asked if he could adopt the name for himself and his wife. It's a name my boyfriend Scott (who I did meet on AB) and I came up with one night while we were watching a tv program about penguins mating for life. Sadly, Scott passed away on September 26th but he will always be my life penguin.
