God did die for all of man's sins..but as it says in Roman's 10:9-that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved
You gotta accept God's gift..and believe

3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.[a]"

4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You[c] must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

9"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.

10"You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.[d] 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.[e]

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[g] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
    John 3:3-16

He desired the displacement of those entitled sinners, he retreived sins personally, and accepted an thorough extreme state of compiling others deviance to support his floatation device in the sky, ensuring an disguise, as crosses are being distributed endlessly, his corpse lies fraile, yet stern when mounted on dense wood, wearing an crown allowing penetration to his skull, his evident self mutilation would not end at the conclusion of his death, yet dependent upon our lack of abidance, he is bound live in his self created fantasy, entitled hell.

Fair question. While Jesus died for all, His death is not effective (efficacious) for you if you don't accept it (you are the elect). In this manner, Jesus' death must be accepted as the payment for your sin. How can you expect it to pay for you if you don't accept it? Just like paying bills, if someone wants to give the money to pay the bill but you don't accept it from them how can it be effective for you? I hope you can see what I am trying to say here.

Yes Jesus took on our sins and died for them. But we must love Jesus and accept Him as God and Savoir.

    1) No, that just means that he was very boring.

Anyone can tell another to go to Hell, by the way.

    2) No for a serious answer:

"The atonement is a doctrine found within both Christianity and Judaism. It describes how sin can be forgiven by God. In Judaism, Atonement is said to be the process of forgiving or pardoning a transgression. This was originally accomplished through rituals performed by a high priest (Kohen) on the holiest day of the Jewish year: Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). In Christian theology the atonement refers to the forgiving or pardoning of sin through the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion which made possible the reconciliation between God and creation. Within Christianity there are three main theories for how such atonement might work: the ransom theory, the satisfaction theory and the moral influence theory."

"Christians have used three different metaphors to understand how the atonement might work. Churches and denominations may vary in which metaphor they consider most accurately fits into their theological perspective, however all Christians emphasise that Jesus is the Saviour of the world and through his death the sins of mankind have been forgiven.

The first metaphor, epitomised by the "ransom to Satan" theory, was used by the fourth-century theologian Gregory of Nyssa based on verses such as Mark 10:45 – "the Son of Man came … to give his life as a ransom for the many". In this metaphor Jesus liberates mankind from slavery to Satan and thus death by giving his own life as a ransom. Victory over Satan consists of swapping the life of the perfect (Jesus), for the lives of the imperfect (mankind). A variation of this view is known as the "Christus Victor" theory, and sees Jesus not used as a ransom but rather defeating Satan in a spiritual battle and thus freeing enslaved mankind by defeating the captor.

The second metaphor, used by the eleventh century theologian Anselm, is called the "satisfaction" theory. In this picture mankind owes a debt not to Satan, but to sovereign God himself. A sovereign may well be able to forgive an insult or an injury in his private capacity, but because he is a sovereign he cannot if the state has been dishonoured. Anselm argued that the insult given to God is so great that only a perfect sacrifice could satisfy and Jesus, being both God and man, was this perfect sacrifice. A variation on this theory is the commonly held Protestant "penal substitution theory," which instead of considering sin as an affront to God’s honour, sees sin as the breaking of God’s moral law. Placing a particular emphasis on Romans 6:23 (the wages of sin is death), penal substitution sees sinful man as being subject to God’s wrath with the essence of Jesus' saving work being his substitution in the sinner's place, bearing the curse in the place of man (Gal. 3:13). A third variation that also falls within this metaphor is Hugo Grotius’ "governmental theory", which sees Jesus receiving a punishment as a public example of the lengths to which God will go to uphold the moral order.

The third metaphor is that of healing, associated with Pierre Abélard in the eleventh century, and Paul Tillich in the twentieth. In this picture Jesus’ death on the cross demonstrates the extent of God’s love for us, and moved by this great act of love mankind responds and is transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. This view is favoured by most liberal theologians as the moral influence view, and also forms the basis for Rene Girard’s "mimetic desire" theory (not to be confused with meme theory)."

I dunno. All this talk of dying is very depressing. If you don't mind, I'm gonna go over to the liquor store, buy me a quart of Jim Beam and talk it over with the Baptists who hang out there all the time

Interesting....Where'd you get this info? The Bible?

If so, doesn't Jesus himself say, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

What does he mean by that? He knows he is GOING to die for our sins and pay our debt, right?

So, it seems that there is something that WE also must do--in order to "see the kingdom of God."

    Good stuff, huh?

  • this sounds like a bunch of predestination BS. God or Jesus doesn't have "elect," they love all equally, and in that love, everyone has the chance to be forgiven for screwing up. Jesus died so everyone would have that chance.

The Bible does say in Romans 6:10 The death,he died,he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives,he lives to God. It also states Romans 8;8 Those controlled by the sinfull nature can not please God. It goes on to say Romans 8;9 You ,however are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit,if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if any one does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
Romans chapter 8 addresses your question. God does not send any man to Hell thats our choice.

The greatest suffering and pain man suffers on this earth is his own sinfulness. When he is guilty of sin this fault incurs a debt that must be payed..Christ's redemption made it possible for the debt man accrues by sin capable of being forgiven.Man did not get off scott free.He must make amends for the fault of his sin and the guilt that goes with it.It is in lieu of Christ's Redemption that this fault and guilt is forgiven.Christ's Redemption bought us back and made it possible to be saved.
Not all men will to be saved unfortunately.
The elect are those who choose to do God's will and who persevere to the end.
God doesn't send anyone to Hell. The person freely wills to go there.
Christ has made it very difficult to go to Hell but yet there are those souls--
Suffering is the means to sanctification and our sufferings are united to Christ's and only Christ's Redemption makes this possible.
Christ's died for everyone and His agonal cry "My God My God why have you forsaken Me" was uttered because Christ knew not all souls would be saved when His Redemptive act of infinite merit could have saved all mankind and such was not to be the case. Some would reject Him.
Mankind must participate in the Redemptive Act of Salvation.
It would be an unjust act of the Father to allow all of mankind to waltz into Heaven and if flies in the face of reason that the one guilty of such a fault should not be held accountable for his actions.
Creation mirrors the Divine. When a man commits a crime of which he is guilty he must pay the debt due such a crime but he can be forgiven.

Actually when one chooses to NOT follow Jesus, they have made the decision to spend eternity without Him. God doesn't send anyone to hell. Hell was actually created for Satan and his angels. Yes, Jesus did die for all men and women, but because we were all created with 'free will' we have to make the choice to follow Him. God loves everyone, but He doesn't force you to love Him back.

Your right in a sense, Do you know you can be elect by God to enjoy the fruits of Jesuses work, death and resurection, simply by believeing this is so, confessing that you are a sinner and asking God for wisdom and faith, do this and you too will be one of Jesuses elect. God can and most likely will send to Hell those who reject his son Jesus. Plus, one other item, Jesus said now is the time of Salvation, the hour is at hand, MEANING, Gods gift to us thru Jesuses work and sacrafice has a time limit, if we live to see Arma gedden, at that time it"ll be too later to side with Jesus, and one would be doomed to hell. Jesus died for everyone, his apostles were his immediate elct but anyone can be one of the elect. The Bible says God is constantly scanning the earth looking for his sheep, those who look for me will find me, I am not far from those who work for me. In your Minds voice, say, Father in Heaven, I know you exist, I am a sinner, I believe Jseus is your son and died on the cross for my sins, I believe you raised him Jesus your son on the 3rd day and now is at your right side, teach me the wisdom to understand and build my faith, this I ask in Jesuses name amen. Do this and you also will be one of Gods elect.

What is hell? It is just the churches way of keeping people on a leash. Quote “The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, ‘eternal fire.’ The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God.”—Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1994 edition, page 270
But is this what the Bible teaches? No.
The Bible teaches that Hell is just the common grave of mankind. All who die go to Hell, but it is not a burning fiery torment. A place of inactivity.
“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, . . . for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, Revised Standard Version
That is why the patriarch Job, when suffering terribly because of a severe illness, begged God: “Protect me in hell [Hebrew, Sheol].” (Job 14:13; Douay-Rheims Version)
Even Jesus went to Hell. The Bible writer Luke recounts: “Neither was [Jesus] forsaken in Hades nor did his flesh see corruption.” (Acts 2:31)
So Jesus did not die for just a few, he died for all mankind, that through their faith in his sacrifice they might have life.
Jesus prayed on the night of his death, "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whome you sent forth, Jesus Christ" (John 17:3)
We need to take in this accurate knowledge of the Bible, come to accept God and his Son, work in accordance with that knowledge.

Um, just in case no-one has used THIS oft quoted verse, I will: John 3.16 - "For God so loved the word, that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM shall not perish but have eternal life."

Peace and (my loving) God be with you :-)

I'm going to answer your question by explaining to you the TRUE HISTORY of God and his Savior Jesus, so please bare with me.....

In the time of Moses "the Words" - "the Law" (the Commandments) was given because the House of Jacob (the 12 tribes) asked for a contractual relationship between the God who had just delivered them from the bondage of Egypt, and themselves. Moses brought them that contract, the Words, the Law. A lot of people outside of Judaism don't understand this contract came with both blessings if they obeyed, and cursings if they did not.

The Levitical priests were set in charge of seeing that the people kept to the letter of the law, the first priest being Moses' brother Aaron. They were to study the Words and pass them down thru their generations, offer their sacrifices, live their lives, and do all that the Law prescribed (civil codes), and the priests were there to make certain it happened.

The first rule of the Law is: I AM the LORD thy God. You are to worship no other gods except Me.

When the House of Jacob (the 12 tribes) disobeyed, and began doing what the heathens and pagans do (worshipping other gods of stone, wood, the worship of nature, belief in nothing) they were sent into captivity, taken as slaves, in accordance with the contract that was agreed to between them and God.

The Old Testament documents that this happened over and over and over again, so God in his wisdom decided enough was enough. He would bring a Messiah, to accomplish what the House of Jacob could not, and also bring in ANYONE (heathens, pagans - also known as Gentiles) into Gods Kingdom. This Messiah would be called God With Us, because he indeed was God in the flesh.

Enter Jesus, born of a virgin, a direct descendant of the Levitical priests and the Davidic/Judaic bloodline, in accordance with prophesies given by the prophets of old. Jesus completed and fulfilled the law in his life, completing every prophesy made about him, right down to the last verse, which He quoted while dying on the cross, His death being a type of sacrifice.

His resurrection gives all who believe on Him everlasting life, which is to say their soul will never die. Jesus is now seated at the Right Hand of God (the creator) the Father, which means he is Ruler of the Universe.

Jesus, gives the Completion of the Law, as a free gift to ANYONE who wants it; it does not matter if they are of the House of Jacob (12 tribes) or a Gentile. All they have to do is sincerely ask and they will receive this gift.

    -----------------

Check this link out, it has over 300 prophesies, all written by ancient Hebrew prophets on ancient scrolls, which outline exactly how Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior. If you scroll down a bit on the link, you will see how Jesus fits EXACTLY with these ancient prophetic documents.
