Norton antivirus version 2006 and before: 1) First open up your norton antivirus, by double clicking the small icon in the bottom of the toobar. (The opposite side of where your start button is. 2) Click on the options tab and and choose Norton Antivirus, and a window displaying options should show up. 3) Click where it says "Live Updates". 4) Check Turn automatic LiveUpdate on (recommended). Try reinstalling norton if nothing works out.
