Clearly it's Karl Malone, and nobody else is even close for 2nd. He won 2 MVPs (you have to be highly thought of to be OVERrated), even though he was never once the best player on his own team (John Stockton). Stockton hit EVERY big shot on any game the Jazz ever won in the postseason (see 99 playoffs, round 1, game 5), while the FeMailman was the doofus who got stripped by MJ to lose game 6 of the 98 Finals. Malone was a great player, but HARDLY the "greatest power forward ever" as some arsehats would ignorantly spout. I'd take Duncan, McHale, Barkley, and a half dozen other guys on my roster before I'd take Malone.

the most overrated player in NBA history, thanks to the fickled media, has been Julius Irving. doesn't mean that he was bad. while he belongs to the HoF, he was more flash / flamboyant than substance. Malone brought his lunch pail to work everdyday, very workman-like. he has hit more clutch shots than Stockman. both he and stockton were the dirtiest player ever.

It's Larry Bird - even though he was REALLY good. Bird is talked about in the same breath as Magic and Jordan. He was closer to Isiah and Hakeem. Bird never guarded the toughest wing players for opposing teams and he was surrounded by great defenders in DJ and McHale. Bird floated on defense, so he has numbers (steals and rebounds) but he was an on ball defender or an athletic rebounder. Bird could do it all on the offensive end - but he couldn't 'run' a team as a primary ball handler (like Magic or MJ). He also had a ton of heart and smarts. But put him on the Hawks with Tree Rollins, Randy Wittman, Doc Rivers and Kevin Willis. Then, put a young 'Nique with DJ, McHale, Ainge and Parrish.
