Is it legal to own a squirrel as a pet in the United States?

    It is legal in Oklahoma with permits. So I guess it is legal in the U.S. if you want to get technical. I had one. :) I let him go when spring came a few years ago. He was a baby. My daughter rescued him from a cat. We bottle fed him. He was so much fun. I found hidden acorns in the house for months. During the two weeks I was trying to release him, he would go out, gather nuts, then come back in. One day, he just never came back. :)
