Definitely, depending on focus and intent. There's a reason for the fact that, among many of the Wicca, this is known as the "Great Rite."

But even outside of a ritual context, the sex act can be made sacred through (as I said, above)proper focus and intention.

    Yes, very much so.

Different people mean different things by "Wicca." I use it to refer to religious witchcraft of any stripe; however, most such witchcraft today is revivalist and owes a major debt to Gerald Gardner. One of Gardner's principal sources seems to have been an Italian witchcraft tradition in which the mythohistorical figure of Aradia figures prominently.

In both Charles Leland's book, "Aradia: the Gospel of the Witches," published in the late 19th century, and Raven Grimassi's "Italian Witchcraft," published in the late 20th, it is clear that sex has held a prominent place in Italian witchcraft.

I think most revivalist witches, coming from an upbringing in a Puritanical, sex-hostile culture, have virtually no frame of reference for the kind of sexual activity that I believe is normative for witchcraft. A good illustration would be the practices of pagans in ancient cultures, whose meetings would include feasting and dancing and end in orgies. While the history books are generally poor references for actual witchcraft practice during the medieval period, there is some more reliable indication therein that sexual celebration was practiced by those witches, too.

I believe that even the idea of what a religious sexual orgy is, is completely alien to nearly everyone today. Far from being an "ass-grabbing free-for-all," I believe it is actually about transcending personal boundaries and experiencing spiritual union.

I have spent a great deal of time in reflection on this subject, and on the few hints that I have seen in the literature and in history, and this is what I have concluded; however, I do not speak from experience.

Personally I think sex is one of a million great & beautiful things about life.
I don't use it in rites or worship. I don't use it at all, I just enjoy it.
