Since my husbands death, retirement is no longer an open option for me... I have to work unless I win the lotto.

As soon as it's finacially feasible. I'm hoping that I can retire in my mid-50s (as opposed to waiting until my 60s). Assuming I keep my job, I'll have 30 years in and quite a good chunk of change in my retirement account. I can't say now (since that's about 30 years from now) exactly what age, but I'd like to be as young as possible! (I hate working)

surely in my 50's, i'm still young, don'T have a job and all that stuff.....

I retired at 50 due to strong inducements from my employer. I was offered a carrot, a monthly pension beginning the month after accepting retirement and shown a stick, a planned layoff in which my job could easily be moved to another division of the company. I took the bird in the hand and moved out of California. I plan to retire from my current occupation at 65.

According to the Federal Government, I am eligible to retire now, but I haven't been working at a job outside the home for over 25 years.

On track to retire at 55 without the help of Social Security.

If I keep on my current schedule I will retire at death.
