  • I believe it was seen to be too risky. I mean, the bloke is meant to be dead, and if YOU were pretending to be dead, would you just walk into the ministry of magic? There are no guarantees, so it's just easier to send the bully boys, don't you think? Plus if he had just walked in, we wouldn't of had the brilliant Dirty Den style enterance now, would we?
  • I agree with boredasmustard, but I also think Voldemort believes this task to be beneath him. Why do it yourself when you have deatheaters to do it for you? Plus, they know the penelty if they fail him... which they did... but not the point.
  • ALSO, you cannot hear a prophecy that is not addressed in you name :)
  • HP asked that question and I believe it was Bellatrix who responded - would Voldemort waltz through the ministry when the ministry are so helpfully ignoring his return?
  • Dumbledore states that only the person to whom the prophecy is adressed can hear it. If Voldemort had taken it, he wouldn't have been able to hear it. It is Harry's prophecy, and will only be heard if Harry is the one that gets it. Similar to the Mirror in the first one, Voldemort needed to use Harry to find the stone. Without Harry, the plan wouldn't work.
