I disagree. Gary Cooper did not invent acting. Marlon Brando was the father of modern screen acting and the person who transformed acting from the pantomime it was during the silent film era and the overacting styles of earlier time periods and created realism onscreen. I don't think this question is properly phrased, actors don't make cinematic innovations. That's the job of other folks behind the set. If you are asking about actors that innovate in films, Charlie Chaplin would be another one. Without his contributions, we probably wouldn't be watching many movies today.
