Depends on how you define robot. The earliest automated machinery (robotic) was hydro power - self governed, self controlled and in theory 'perpetually' working. If you mean the first mythological mention... that is a toss up. Jewish folklore have the clay Golem. Then there are the mechanical servants built by the Greek god Hephaestus. Real automatic machines and simple 'robots' were being built as early as the first century AD (CE).
