Picked up a PS2. All our PS1 games play fine. Rented a PS2 game but get disk read error. Same with DVD's. But it continues to play the PS1 games and CD's flawlessly. Do we need a PS2 memory card vs the PS1 memory cards?

I answered this before, but... There is a small white gear in the back, mark its current position. then click it to the right by 3 each time until it plays all discs, failing that you can go to default position, this gear adjusts the laser eye level. Failing that, mine personally just got stuck on the track the laser ran on, try cleaning that and make sure the fiber optics under the track arn't bent into its path.
If your flat ps2 starts acting up, ill let you know in advance, turn the diognostic on under the browser menu...tends to help.
