  • [This question has been changed.] Q) Do the Jews still have Genealogical records going back to King David? Otherwise, how will they verify that the Messiah (when he arrives) is a true descendant? A) Good question. I don't have an answer but here is a link I googled [http://www.google.com/search?q=living+Descendants+of+King+David] up: # http://www.cameraontheroad.com/family/descendants-of-king-david-to-meet-in-jerusalem/ ## http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1159193355370&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
  • While official genealogical records may have been destroyed by the Romans, many families had personal family trees. These remained intact until as recently as 200 years ago. As an example, when Rabbi Dovber, "the Maggid" of Mezritch (http://tinyurl.com/37jx74)was a young boy, a fire destroyed his parents' home. His mother was distraught, because their family tree, dating back to the Talmudic sage, Rabbi Yochanan, was lost in the fire. A number of prominent Jewish families have traditionally held family trees linking them to King David as well. (http://tinyurl.com/2ptre7).
