Help answer this question below.
It's shown me that reality is not a concept, that what we are is boundless and that real clarity, wellbeing and peace comes from facing things as they are, not as we often want, imagine or think they are. None of us needs to live in the little, conceptual boxes that we are often put in, whether by others or ourselves.
As to the purely physiological and psychological benefits of meditation, there isn't really enough room here to list all the benefits that science and medicine have discovered that come from the regular practice of genuine meditation. The list is huge, from decreased risk of cancer and heart attacks to increased brain functioning, improved memory and metabolic functioning and effectiveness in treating conditions such as Alzheimer's, strokes and ADD. There are however several sites such as the Psychology Today Magazine's website where you can check out some of the research that has been done on meditation and the findings:

I had to stop. I was getting over meditated.
My opinion on it is that it's probably good for me like so many other things I should probably be doing but don't. I tried, just sitting there drives me crazy for some reason.
just like relaxation,good health
It is very useful to meditate when u think a lot and cant sleep.i have tried it in an open area with slight breeze in the air and with a feeling of nature around me.It let me feel like a reborn.
I meditate and it keeps me on the right path!
I do. I think it's beneficial to give your brain a break and just sort of re-focus yourself. It calms me down, and helps center me.
When i can't sleep because i'm thinking about too many things. That works for me.
Yeah I mediate. Certain meditations do different things for me. I use a form of meditation I call puffing. I will flex my stomach 20-60 times rhythmically, exhale at the end, inhale fully, hold my breath, flex my butt, and hold my chin to my chest for as long as I comfortably can, then exhale and do it 2 more times. This exercise forces oxygen into my body and helps me feel relaxed and a little high at times. It has also given me shape in my abdomen. Another type of meditation I use is called Void meditation. Basically you turn off your internal dialogue completely. It takes practice to get good at, but it can save your ass from unwanted thoughts, thoughts that can drain you, cause anxiety and so forth. Once you have turned off the internal dialogue, you can direct your thoughts to something else or even look back at what you were thinking about before from a sober perspective. It has been very useful to me.
I enjoy meditating! It does bring a calmness over me during times of stress. It can be practiced whenever I want to as well.+2
meditation is an easy way for me to delete so much stuff i think i have to think about all the time. i meditate once in a while. twice a day is optimum. meditation at this stage just clears the clutter from my mind.
Meditation opens the door to higher levels of consciousness,
higher levels of awareness.
We live in a world of thought.
and meditation is the way out of Thought.
Through meditation one can go beyond the form
and rest in perfect unconditional love and peace.
it is the door way to your soul and the source of life.
it is the doorway to pure energy, to that light within your soul.
Mditation brings happiness, enlightenment, realization,
brings all things into balance, healing and harmony with the universe,
and it gives you that direct access to your own higher levels of awareness.
I have tried. but you need quiet and time I have niether at the moment.
I do it helps stablize the mind and just helps to relive stress, I do the Eric Pepin meditation program

He is a Monk not a scientist Sirus. Anyway, with your background YOU should tell us all about it.

Sirus1, it is a known fact and probably all over the medical libraries that meditation or yoga or any similar practice lowers blood pressure. By doing so you stabilize your Immune System, which in return fights cancer before you even notice it, it suppresses it, our bodies are designed to do that. This is just one aspect I can think of.
When Anon y mouse feels the stance some show by responding to his answer, he can only step back and let you figure it out by yourself, you would put into question every word he says anyway.
As a peace loving being one has no other choice.
I miss Zenmonk and I was searching today for him by going through his answers.
I can understand how you feel, Anon y mouse, and if this all is the reason you are not participating anymore since 5 months, please, think of this: There are AB users out there who would enjoy interacting with you. Karin.
