What you might do depends on what the secret is.
Sometimes you can steal their thunder by admitting whatever it is openly, not trying to hide it. For example, if it's something you wish you hadn't done, then you might say, "Yes, I did it, and I'm not proud of it; but we all make mistakes, and I've learned from mine."
The best thing you can take from this is the knowledge that you should never tell what you don't want repeated should the worse happen.
I have a best girl friend and a best guy friend and best friends with one of my sisters. But there are some things I dare not tell b/c IF anyone should:
-go crazy and tell everything they think of
-quit being my friend for a valid or invalid reason
-take a bribe once I am elected president of ____
-get jealous b/c I signed a million dollar contract
there are some things I don't want anyone to know eva.

You're reading My ex-best friend told my other friends my worst secret when we broke up from being friends (because she was bitching about me behind my back), yesterday. It's really horrible of her because it was an embarrasing thing. What should i do? :'(
