Not up here in Alaska. People up here know that there are some really mean women and violent women. A lot of the time the father wins the custody battles up here.

What state am I in? Flabbergasted of New Zealand here..! In NZ things are biased towards women in almost every way. Most women sit and tell tales of drunkenness, beatings with the odd mention of sexual things.. They hardly ever have to give evidence at all and in nearly every case, the man is on the shit end of things. It's known as "positive discrimination!" which is milked by almost all lawyers..

I believe that most states have laws that more or less favor the woman in a divorce case. However; there are MANY states who are now re doing their divorce laws to make it fair and equal for both parties .... I live in Florida ...

Not at all. I am in New Zealand and two of my brothers both got full custody of their children when their marriages ended. One was a recovered alcoholic as well. The world moves on.

When my children were young, Arizona still had the Tender Years Doctrine, preventing fathers from having custody of young children. A few states still have it. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G2-3437704331.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tender_Years_Doctrine In many cases, it comes down to the preparation of the father and the competence of the attorney in going for joint physical custody, but there's other issues that can affect it. In the 90s, a Missouri Presiding Judge wrote Dear Abby about the 60% rate of mothers accusing fathers of sexual abuse when there's a custody challenge. Only 2% of the claims were valid, but these claims can get expensive and some times go too far, with an innocent father ending up in jail. In 1995, a 12 year old Texas girl was trying to clear her father's name when she learned he had killed himself in prison. She than killed herself. The mother had forced her five years previous to accuse him.
