  • Yeah pretty much. It also seems to be about not letting your enemy get used to your pattern of movements and attacks. Drunken style seems very disorganized and without a pattern so the attacks surprise the enemy.
  • According to old written records, the first drunken style was 'Drunken Monkey' and resulted from a monk observing a certain monkey over several years ... fresh fruit was being sold and rotten fruit was being discarded for the monkeys ... a certain monkey would become aggressive and gather as much of the rotting fruit as he could and would then protect the pile and keep adding to it and nibbling from it ... as the pile rotted more, it fermented and made alcohol, getting the monkey drunk ... the fighting methods and patterns of the drunken monkey, as it defended the pile of rotting fruit were carefully noted by the monk ... the monk then developed the drunken style ... ... the main thing is to use extremes of flowing 'off balance' and flowing 'recover balance' as you keep changing where your center of gravity is ... it also makes use of sudden jerks and hesitant pauses to disrupt the evenness of the flow, and this reduces predictability and pattern recognition for the opponent ...
