Can you make lead nitrate [Pb(NO3)2] from ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) and elemental lead (Pb)?

    the reaction

    Pb + 2 NH4N03 --> Pb(NO3)2 + 2 NH3 (gas) + H2 (gas)

    is most probably thermodynamically favorable for two reasons

    1) the redox potential of lead is slightly lower than that of hydrogen
    2) 3 moles of gas are formed which is good as far as entropy is concerned

    so it would work

    I don't know about the reaction speed though
