Most employers require workers to start at the minimum salary for the job, and work their way up. You don't say what degree you have, so it isn't possible to answer directly. Keep in mind that over the course of your career, the degree will enable you to earn more than a high school grad would likely make, but there are no guarantees. I recently read of a job at a animal shelter having people with degrees, including a law school graduate applying for an office position at minimum wage. Jobs are much harder to find right now than they have been in the past few years.
