  • Actually in order to be considered for that job, I personally feel it is your obligation TO follow up on the application...
  • No, my ex-boyfriend was a manager in charge of hiring and he said that he liked when people called and followed up. He also said that a lot of times they forget about people because they get so many applications. You have to make yourself memorable and show that you want the job.
  • Sometimes I have this mindset of ..'well, if they wanted me for the job, they would have called me.' How do you feel about that?
  • Definitely not. As a former manager I can tell you that 90% of applications never get looked at in most hourly jobs. They all go into a file folder and the only time I ever pulled them out was if we suddenly needed a person very badly or if the person called back. If they called to check in on the status I often felt obligated to give them an interview. Pick a time when you know the management isn't busy (you can even call and ask when a good time to call back would be) and then ask to speak to the manager. Tell them you were just calling to check in and see if they had a chance to review your application.
