If youre going to be a delusional nutter, I say go all out. That is why I believe in the one true god.
-
Yes. Especially if you're the only member.

I don't think it's wrong to believe the church you attend is the one and only true church. It's when people believe their's is the one and only true church, and they tell other people that they are wrong for going to a different church that angers me. Especially (and this has happened to me) when I'm told that even though I go to church that I will not sit at the right hand of God because I don't attend the right church (I see this is posted in a Mormon category, but it was not anyone Mormon who told me this years ago).
-
Uh... well, most churches believe that, so why should you try to be different?
-
Everyone has a right to their opinion, but just because you beleive it doesn't mean it is true.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say definitively, No, it is not OK. We cannot peacefully co-exist with such beliefs and although you may not personally be a person capable of harming others, you will be attracting and encouraging them. As an example, many years ago, the anti-abortion movement was having one of its resurgences with some of the more radical elements gaining national prominence. It continued to gain momentum until two abortion performing doctors were killed because, it was reasoned, this saved the lives of many unborn children and thus was actually a good deed. While the average anti-abortion activist was not directly responsible, they all shared the blame for these murders by creating the conditions for them to occur. That's why the idea of the one true church is such a bad idea. It eventually becomes deadly for someone.

SHORT ANSWER: Well Christians certainly can't say this about other Biblically orthodox Churches! If they do then they are unaligned with what is taught in the Bible. LONG ANSWER: There's a great saying in the Christian Church in regards to this question: In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity. It is, candidly, a saying that all Christians - including this author - would do better to consider and practice! And this is completely Biblical! As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians: 1 Corinthians 12 (New International Version) "12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." And in the next chapter he wrote: 1 Corinthians 12 (New International Version) "2 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." So since the Bible says we Christians ALL know in PART, we obviously need each other don't we? And, finally, Jesus prayed: "Holy Father, protect them [my disciples] by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.'" -- John 17:11 (NIV) So Christian have NO right to claim that their Church (assuming of course that it's Bibically Orthodox on the essentials) is the ONLY true Church. Those that do so are clearly not in compliance with what the Bible teaches about Christ's ONE Church. There may be MANY expressions but there is ONE Church of Jesus Christ and we need each other!

If you didn't belive that, you wouldn't have much of a faith.

Many denominations claim exclusive authority, that's hardly something unique to Mormonism. What do you mean by "ok"? You are free to believe as you choose, but so are others. If you use your beliefs as justification for discrimination, harassment, or simply looking down upon other people, then no, it isn't OK.
-
Definitely no! This would be a pride issue. A church is nothing more than a group of people gathered together. This could be two or thousands. Yet to say that you know more and understand more is arrogant. On the other hand to say you know and understand all, without a doubt in your mind, I believe this to be blasphemy. How can anyone man or woman make such a claim? The bible, on the other - other hand (I must have three hands or something), is the definitive word of God. I can stand on the text of the bible and declare it truth. I can not stand on my personal interpretation of every verse, but on the over all flowing context there in. I can say, this is the only true compass or basis of Christianity. That is not pride of my own doing. This declaration is given of God, not man.

No, it is not. It creates bigotry and hatred for those who are different, and creates the illusion that you are above everyone else.
-
Sure if you're convinced that you and your Church leadership are infallible, inerrant, are the only source of ultimate reality in the universe, and the absolute power and authority in the universe. Otherwise, no. So since we're really dealing with flawed, errant, limited, and limited human beings: No. In fact I would go so far as to say that any person or institution that holds to such a belief is self-deceived and in denial. Oh, and arrogant.
-
is it wrong to go to two churches, what if you got to work or something pops up and you still want to go, BULLSHIT
-
It is ok to believe that. . Everyone who does, however, should ask themselves three questions from time to time: 1) Do I really believe that? 2) Why? 3) Is it really true? . As long as you remain satisfied with the answers to those questions, LIVE the principles your church teaches with all your might.
-
How many people would really put all their faith and humanity to it? - not me. But superficially yes. As long as you are responsible for the consequences of your actions on other religious groups.
