While mostly true, there is one thing that is misunderstood about ABS. When the ABS shows a fault but there are no other warning lights, YOU STILL HAVE NORMAL, FUNCTIONAL BRAKES! Most of the time, the ABS module isn't doing anything anyways; all four wheels decelerate evenly unless you either stomp them hard or are on a slippery surface. Even then, if you ever drove a car without ABS, you'll be able to handle it.

That said, it's most often a wheel sensor or associated wiring that is to blame. Let a mechanic trace out the fault.
