I do not think God got "mad" or "angry" with Adam and Eve. I doubt that real people called "Adam and Eve" actually lived. I do know that at one point in human history there was a first "human" man and "human" woman. And that at some time in human evolution humanity came to understand the difference between "right" and "wrong". I am not a creationalist, meaning I do not buy into a literal interpretation of Genesis Creation. Instead I believe Genesis to be a device (prose and parable) in which to set the stage for the purpose of the Bible (To define and explain the relationship between God and Man). The Taking and Eating of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge is not about two people eating apples. Instead it is conveying to us the main difference between humans and pre-human ancestors and animals and rocks and the rest of the "natural" world. Humans are reasoning beings who have an understanding between "right" and "wrong" "good" and "evil". This makes us like gods in that we are able to take action based upon reasoning between these two points. (ergo the serpent's telling Eve we will be gods). What is key here is that the RELATIONSHIP between God and Man changed when man came to the "knowledge". This isn't to say that God got all huffy and vengeful and angry. Most likely God did not being a higher being who sees all, knows all etc. God did pull away from man - Reality is that Man pulled away from God. Became more distant and did not "walk with" (a poetic way to express closeness) man any more. The account of Genesis not only was written thousands of years ago but was also based down from generation to generation through vocal retelling and memorization. It attempts to summarize concepts not fully understood way back then (many of which are not even understood today). It attempts to put into human terms concepts which are inhuman - supra-human. We humans tend to use anthropomorphic concepts (That big word basically means "to make like a human). We give human characteristics to objects and inhuman (animal, spirit, whatever) beings. We gave God human "emotions" and a "face" to make it easier for us to relate to God. God is not human, God is in essence -superhuman - beyond human and is - most likely - not prone to human emotions. Since we are bestowing human emotions upon a Super-Being, to express the change of the relationship we use "anger" as a way to convey the nature of the change. We humans understand anger, and know what it feels like to be angry. Thus we can "relate" to an "angry God" in this change of Relationship.
