Help answer this question below.
Honestly? I know several published authors, and every one of them tell me there is no such thing. If you have to write, you do it. If a storyline gets stale, move to another. Most authors have a book in outline form, one or two in process for the main body, and at least one being proofread or alteration stage. They all agree, that writers block is an excuse to not work. If your income and livelihood depend on it, you do the job. Period.
Drop Acid.
Take time off to relax, read, look at art, etc.
-- write
-- take a timed break (go outside, take a walk, garden a bit, an unstructured time out)
-- then write some more
-- eat
-- write again
Mix in different bits of your writing:
-- to do lists
-- 2nd, 3rd or 10th drafts of existing pieces
-- freewriting, clustering, brainstorming
-- timed writings
-- outlines
-- on topic 1st drafts
In all, write as is your life depends on it.
Deadlines in place.
Then write.
Choose a subject for your piece that gives you a surge of energy. Invest your emotions in this project. If not, look for a new subject or a fresh idea.
Make sure your work area is ergonomically healthy and well-lit. Choose a chair that supports your spine properly. Physical comfort will encourage productive writing.
Set a timer and start typing - write whatever pops into your head, even if it is total gibberish, a shopping list, words that rhyme - whatever. The idea is to get your creative juices flowing.
Read the work of your favorite writer. There is nothing like being inspired.
Exercise. Go for a brisk walk around the block, do yoga, ride your bike or use your treadmill whenever you feel blocked with your writing. Physical activity increases the blood flow to the brain and releases nervous tension.
Eat healthy foods. Reduce or eliminate high calorie in favor of more fruits and vegetables.
