  • that depends what your asking if we got rid of politicians and government then anarchy would insue, and that gets ugly, every man for himself killing whoever he needs if you mean politicians in general, then are you are essentially getting rid of the government and also allowing anarachy to take over
  • Peaceful. We'd revert back to the way of the Old West -but with today's technology of course- and everyone would have respect for each other because everyone would have a gun. Crime would be almost nonexistent.
  • Qualified people would get the correct jobs in general choas.
  • United.
  • If we could get rid of lawyers as well it'd be Utopia!
  • It would be anarchy! Who would there be to tell us what to do, think, and behave.
  • Friendly
  • We'd all be bashing lawyers more.
  • Just a world with less liars.
  • Wonderful, clean, honest, Utopia
  • Anarchy would take over for a bit, but in time, a natural order would emerge from people's collective beliefs. Instead of dollar amounts deciding what 'order' is, it would be numbers of individuals deciding what the best code of conduct for survival is. Everyone would carry and gun, obviously, and people would learn the hard way that karma is a real bitch and killing, stealing, lying ultimately invites the wrath of God upon you -- just as they did in the ancient 'uncivilized' world. Those with an intuitive sense of justice would survive. Natural selection would favor those who respect and love others but still retain the will to protect their own against injustice. All others would perish over time.
  • Probably better. At one point the children of Israel had no king. They were to rule themselves by God's law. They said, "But God, everybody else has a king, we want one." God said, "Not a good idea!" The children of Israel said, "Please, we want a king." God said, "OK, but you're not going to like it." And now it's all this!
  • I think nearly all the answers above are shallow or naive. There will always be politicians, because we are all partly political, all social groups have some kind of a leader or decision maker, and no large groups of humans totally agree with each other all of the time. The fact is, human nature demands some form of choice and decision making within groups. Whomever takes that role is a politician. It's not just stuffy men in suits, it's a system we have always used in some form and always will. You can no more ponder a world without politicians than you can a world without speaking or a world without music. Note I'm not defending politicians, I'm just observing human nature.
  • Lonely. Where there are groups of people gathered together, there will always be politicians. That's why politics is the world's SECOND oldest profession - and interestingly bears a striking resemblence to the first. The human reason itself evolved not "to find truth" but to play social games - which is to say "politics". Man is a political animal.
  • a lot richer
  • We would certainly have a lot more money in our pockets.
  • Politicians are a necessary evil. No politicians mean no government. No government means anarchy
  • Anarchy. We would have no political system. Politicians are responsible for passing legislation, so without them there would also be no law. We would be living in a society where people were not held responsible for their actions, or they are judged by vigilantes. Not a good thing. Politicians get put down all the time, but people don't stop to think that we actually need them if we want the society we have to continue to function.
  • Someone would take over the position of power. Anarchy can't work in such a large environment. What would happen is whoever has the means to take and control important things would rule. Chances are it would probably be organized crime. They would bully people out of their homes, take what they want and the only people keeping them in check would be other gangs. Government is necessary, even if it becomes overrun by liars. At the same time however it becomes much harder for a politician to care out a promise he made pre-election than when he is in office. To actually elect new people costs a lot of money during a change over, and sometimes things like tax breaks or whatever they promised become a impossiblity after they get in and look at the budget. Point is they are completely necessary and when they work well nobody notices, when they work poorly everyone notices, when they aren't there its chaos.
  • With no politicians, the world would be one gigantic, lawless commune of hippies. Antidisestablimentarism would be the buzz word of the day. Freedoms and faults would include no taxes, no schools, no roads, no hospitals, no regulatory agencies, no OSHA, no FAA, no marriage license, no fishing license, no stock market, no religions, no ISPs, no pet vaccinations, no NFL, no MLB, no real estate license, no sheriff, no fire captain, no prison guard, no prison, no restrictions on valium, weed, cocaine, no health laws, no speed limit, no July 4th celebration...
  • CORRECT!!!
  • Anarchy and the law of the jungle. We will always need Poiticians despite their obvious shortcommings as we live in a representative democracy and need representatives. The alternatives such as anarchy, military dictatorship or theocracy are even worse.
  • Utopia
  • It would not be a human world. Humans are social and therefore political animals and political leadership will always emerge e.g. tribal chiefs in primitive tribes. Witch doctors were Chief Medical Officers, I guess!
  • as Aristotle argued,"man is a political animal through and through"therefore man cannot live without politics and hence politicians.
