it can be a sign of stress, but its cmpletly normal for this to happen. especially if your hair is long. it happens to everybody but unless you are noticing your hair going thin or bald patches then its nothing to worry about. it can be down to thyroid problems or an iron defficency. if you are noticing your hair thinning then a blood test at the doctors will let you know whats going on. Most people lose about 50 to 100 head hairs a day. These hairs are replaced — they grow back in the same follicle on your head. This amount of hair loss is totally normal and no cause for worry. If you're losing more than that, though, something may be wrong. The medical term for hair loss — losing enough hair that a person has visibly thin or balding patches — is alopecia.
