I know I sound stupid but I just have to ask: What the heck is "emo?" What does it mean?

Emo means Emotional. It used to mean sensitivity and assertiveness; being in touch with one's emotions. Now, it means wearing black, having long hair that goes 3/4 over your face, posing like you're shy, and whining about fake problems for attention. I miss the good old days.

Emo is short for emotional or emotional hardcore. It's sort of a grouping, the way Punks and Rockers were. It is associated with certain types of music, such as My Chemical Romance. There are also fashion trends popularly associated to 'Emo', such as sweeping side fringe, snake bite piercings and skinny jeans. However, these styles are also associated with other things. 'Emo' has grown in popularity over the years, despite some rather nasty things being associated with it (i.e. cutting themselves). Like with all things though, just because they are part of the Emo group doesn't mean the person cuts, same as a person who is not 'Emo' can cut. Basically it is just yet another group for teenagers to be a part of that like emotional music.

emo is short for emotional.people who are emotional like clothes like skin tight and have awesome haircuts!most like straight dark hair and other like highlight like red and black or purple and black.most dont like life and some cut themselves and can sometimes be overdramatic.they dont crave attention! take it from someone who knows
