    Most checks are only good for 180 days past the date on the check.

    A lot of the checks I use to process when I was a loan officer expired in ninety days. It may vary.. it should say it on the actual check.

    It has changed over the years, but I think for a non cashier's check it is 1 year for many banks. The various banks might even have their own policies on this. But I know the two banks I use won't honor a personal 2nd party check if it is over a year old now.

    With some banks it also probably depends on the amount of the check and they use their own judgment.
