  • No, the devil Satan is
  • The concept of God is beyond my understanding. I would hope that, if God exists, [s]He would not have an evil sadistic nature because if that was the case, life is pretty grim!
  • James 1:16-18 do i need to say more?
  • A university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied yes, he did!" "God created everything?" The professor asked. "Yes, sir," the student replied. The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil." The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth. Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?" "Of course", replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?" "What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The students snickered at the young man's question. The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Everybody and every object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (- 460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have too little heat. The student continued. "Professor, does darkness exist?" The professor responded, "Of course it does". The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present." Finally the young man asked the professor. "Sir, does evil exist?" Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. "These manifestations are nothing else but evil." To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love, that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light." The professor sat down. The young mans name --- Albert Einstein It's a myth that Albert Einstein really said all this, but none the less the point stands.
  • If he exists, then I think he's just apathetic. It's people who have the capacity for good and for evil.
  • No, but what man has done in the name of God is evil. It sickens me how people can twist any faith they choose as an excuse to verbally attack, malign, or justify creating evil in the world.
  • Not to be mean but .......NO HE IS NOT EVIL!!!!!!
  • I think god is good and evil just like us we have good and evil in us there is no such thing as a nice person.
  • No he is not. Consider what the Bible writer James wrote: "When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone". James 1:13
  • Yes he did. It was all part of his plan.
  • This is a good read.... "Darwinist Dr. Richard Lewontin, the Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology at Harvard University, states "It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counterintuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door" Simply stated, if a scientist is a materialist, then he’s predisposed to attempt to prove a materialistic viewpoint and any results that point to the supernatural are disregarded. If he presupposes something to be true, then such thinking could cloud his judgment. Someone stated that there is no scientific proof for the existence of God. I stated once that you take it on faith and that’s that. I’v given it some more thought (I do enjoy philosophy and logic, even though it’s been claimed that I know nothing about either) and come up with the following. There are some presumptions taken into this (as with any philosophy) it is impossible to prove God exist scientifically. By the same token, it is impossible to prove he doesn’t exist scientifically. The reason being, God exist outside our realm of existence. We humans exist in 4 dimensional space. The 4th dimension being time. God, as described in the Bible, is omniscient and all powerful. He exists in the past, present and future and all 3 dimensions, simultaneously. The physical laws that we live under do not apply to God. By creation of the universe, he caused (directly or indirectly) the laws of the universe to exist. I know this analogy has probably been used befor but I’ll use it anyway. Picture a 2 dimensional universe. Could beings in this universe prove a 3rd dimension? They could theorize and have mathematical constructs of how this dimension should behave and interact with their universe, but they could never prove it. So, we are left with proofs that point at the existence of God, without a physical/mathematical proof of his existence. I’v been accused of breaking society down to atheist scientist and Christians. This was not my intention as I know there are a myriad of beliefs out there. Not all scientists are atheist. I see the big bang theory as also something that points towards a creator. The universe has either always existed or had a first event and came into existence at some point in history. The second laws of thermodynamics (known as the law of entropy) states that the universe can’t be infinite, therefore, there had to be a creation of the universe. The singularity that appeared (that started the whole chain of events) could not have been caused by itself. An event can’t be the cause of itself. If the early universe had expanded at a rate of 1 millionth slower then it did, then expansion wouldn’t have been able to overcome the gravitational constant and the universe would have collapsed on itself. If it expanded any faster, then no galaxies would have formed. Evolution: the theory that we evolved from simple life forms. Take for example the simple amoeba, the nucleus alone contains the information of 30 volumes of the encyclopedia Britannica, the complete amoeba package contains the information of 1000 sets of encyclopedias. For the simplest life to exist, you need about 200 protein molecules. Each of these proteins requires about 100 amino acids. There is another problem though, DNA requires proteins for its production, and however proteins require DNA for their synthesis. So, as you can see, simple life isn’t that simple and once again you run into causality. How did life arise from non-living chemicals when they too are subject to the second law? The energy that living things take in isn’t processed at 100% efficiency. Living systems also break down which is the reason we age. In all of our experiments, biologist, geneticists, microbiologist, biochemist and other’s have yet to spontaneously create life in even the most controlled experiments. I wasn't born a Christian nor was I raised in a Christian household. I grew up questioning the existence of God. Why did the universe need a God when science had all the answers? As I got older I realized that the more we learn, the more questions we have. I don’t believe that science and religion are and have to be entirely separate. Einstein himself said “science without religion is lame: religion without science is blind.” Occam's Razor states that one should make no more assumptions than needed. Put into everyday language, it says Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate [Latin] or given two equally predictive theories, choose the simpler. Who has the simplest theory? An atheistic scientist that claims in order for the universe to exist, there was this huge chain of unlikely events that leads up to us? Or, intelligent design? Perhaps both are partially correct. There was a big bang however it wasn’t a random event, there was intelligence behind it."
  • No. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • Judging by God's actions in the OT (genocide, infanticide, condoning of rape, murder and slavery etc etc etc) it certainly seems clear the he is at least not entirely good. Much like a dictator or a Mafia Don, he gains respect not so much by doing good deeds as by demonstrating the he is able and willing to incinerate you if you don’t do what he says. It could also be argued that it would be completely in the nature of an evil God to coerce his followers into believing that he is, in fact, good. When confronted with the hypothesis that God is not good, many Christians (and Evangelicals in particular) have a tendency to immediately, and quite often aggressively, dismiss such talk as nonsense, without giving any further explanation - almost like a kneejerk reaction. One could easily interpret this as a symptom of denial.
  • personally i think yes, he is supposedly to be this almighty being, but would an almighty being send us to hell for faults that most humans have? everyone is good and evil, even god, even Satan, even us.
  • are you going to hell?
  • put god and evil together you get godevil, god and devil
  • No god is not evil. He is pure and holy and mighty and he is totally not evil. HE is perfect, the devil is evil
  • Mostly.
  • No, He created it. (Isa 45:7)
  • Judging by all the punishment He inflicted on His own angels and us Humans yes that is what evil is about. Through the centuries we have been led to believe that God is good and Lucifer( Satan) is the evil one. Lucifer fell from Heaven and is still suffering the worst of God's wrath and all he wanted to do is fight for what was best for Humans yet God sent His son to die in the most horrible death to 'save us' ( still not sure from what) and he gets all the credit! What did he save us from ??? We are still under God's curse!
  • No, for God is holy, and the removal of God from the world or even a school system is opening the flood gates to the evil in men's hearts.
