    No.Not yet Greenland has been ruled by Denmark since 1721 and now the large island with a population of just 57,000 is hoping that the discovery of gold, diamonds, and oil will move the territory closer to independence

    No Greenland is actually a Danish colony. Denmark is in control of both the foreign and defence policies of Greenland.

    I'm pretty sure Denmark owns it. I'm not sure if it's a territory, though, or a actual part of the country.
