The SS was integral in the Holocaust and the Holocaust might not have occurred without top echelon of the SS, specifically people like Goebbels and Himmler. Personally, I do not think Hitler had it within him to orchestrate such a massive and complex undertaking without the top dogs in the SS. Without the SS or a similar group he could not have carried it out, of course (that one is a no brainer). I am going to be including a few of the researchers whose research was used to excuse and justify the Holocaust. Anyone reading this might ask why. My answer: the architects of the Holocaust needed this research to "sell" the Holocaust. I think it MIGHT have happened without them but it would have happened much later and fewer would have died. The list would be too long (and I am lazy) but any of the SS who sent people to the Camps from various areas also would go on the list. In fact, most of these people were tried in the Nuremburg trials. All of the SS who participated in the medical experiments and all of the SS who were guards at the camps could go on it as well. However, I could write one of my MASSIVE answers to this thing and nobody wants that. So, I am just hitting some high points. Himmler was the architect of the actual Final Solution. I think of Himmler as the actual "brains" behind the Holocaust. Talking about Himmler alone would be yet ANOTHER of my ridiculously long answers. Here is a little funny tidbit about Himmler: once he was standing by a pit into which Jews and Gypsies were being shot... one of those mass grave things outside of the Camps. He was splattered by the brains of one of the victims. The pansy almost passed out and would have fallen into the grave himself had someone not pulled him aside. ((Hermann Goering was Hitler's designated second in command, commander of the Luftwafe, formed the Gestapo, and, with the help of Himmler and Heydrich, created the first concentration camps for political dissidents. He was the head of the SA (Sturmabteilung) and was one of Hitler's most influential goons.)) None of this would have been possible without the brains of Goebbels, the propaganda minister. He dehumanized the Jews, the Gypsies, and the mentally impaired. At the same time pro-Nazi propaganda films were produced so the German people had these dehumanizing films combined with the uplifting pro-Nazi films. I used to have many videotapes of the original propaganda films. Most of them targeted the Jews and, after them, we (the Gypsies) were targeted as were the mentally handicapped. I really do not know who was more targeted in these after the Jews: the mentally handicapped or us. Without the propaganda machine the Holocaust could not have happened. This was, flat out, brainwashing. "Dr." Mengele was SS and, while the Holocaust would have happened without him it could not have had as much effect or terror without him. I would put all of the "medical" staff at the concentration camps in with Mengele although Mengele was, by far, the most virulent. Wilhelm Frick: he penned "Law for Protection of German Blood and Honor" and "Reich citizenship law" which were used as the basis for the infamous Nuremburg laws which were used on both the Jews and the Gypsies to determine who could live and who could die. First it was applied to the Jews but they managed to weasel us into it. If you google the Nuremburg laws you shall see how it was wedging us in sideways. These were originally penned to excuse the slaughter of the Jews but were later used to encorporate us. Robert Ritter: he established The Racial Hygiene and Criminal Biology and Research Unit. This is supervised by the National Interior Ministry and its "expressed" purpose was to determine whether the Gypsy people and the "Afro-Europeans" are Aryans, or sub-humans. You can guess what they decided. Hans Gunther: race researcher and eugenicist. I shall include an example of his work. Gunther using the following method to justify measures already in place against the "Gypsy Plague": if Roma are no less Aryan than Germans, their "inherent criminal character" stemmed from having mixed with "inferior" races during their nomadic life. ARTICLE 1. (1) A subject of the state is one who belongs to the protective union of the German Reich, and who, therefore, has specific obligations to the Reich. (2) The status of subject is to be acquired in accordance with the provisions of the Reich and the state Citizenship Law. ARTICLE 2. (1) A citizen of the Reich may be only one who is of German or kindred blood, and who, through his behavior, shows that he is both desirous and personally fit to serve loyally the German people and the Reich. (2) The right to citizenship is obtained by the grant of Reich citizenship papers. (3) Only the citizen of the Reich may enjoy full political rights in consonance with the provisions of the laws. ARTICLE 3. The Reich Minister of the Interior, in conjunction with the Deputy to the Fuehrer, will issue the required legal and administrative decrees for the implementation and amplification of this law. Only citizens of the Reich, as bearers of full political rights, can exercise the right of voting in political matters, and have the right to hold public office.
