Do I really HAVE TO HAVE a home telephone at all? I understand I won't connect to 911 service-that's OK. Is there any other reason you know of that I should NOT get rid of my home telephone? Yes we have four cell phones & no children.

Of course not. Millions of people have no land line at all. And most of them also have no cell phones as well.

I have no home telephone and I can still call 911. I have done so a couple of times actually. You just have to give them the address where you are instead of them being able to know automatically by the phone number.

I know a lot of people who ose cells only. Also , even if your cell service is disconnected, not because of satellite failure like mentioned above (they raised a good point) but due to contract running out, not being able to pay, etc. you can power up the phone and still call 911. Thats how it is in our area. My ex was a paramedic and always tells me to keep my phone on me, no matter if I have money, minutes or what. Not sure if that works in all places, but I'm sure you can inquire.

Nope, I only had one for internet for a bit, they forced me to pay for a landline to have it, got rid of that too, I hate landlines, too many telemarketers, they don't call my cell :)

No - but if the satelites ever go down - you will have no telephone. If you are just a couple - why four cell phones? One for work - one for personal? If so - you can even check with the company and if they see no problems with personal calls - get rid of yours.

Landlines are dead and its killing AT&T.

I am saving at least $100 a month by illimating my home phone.

Only received two or three calls a month.

    A waste of money.

Cellphones are the only way to go.

If a storm hits and knocks out your landline phone, you still have your working cellphones.

Ditch the landline and keep your cellphones.

You don't have to have a land line at all. You would however pay less using something like Vonage, around $25 a month with unlimited calling.
