  • go down to your local parts store they should be able to scan the data port and it may bring up a trouble code for bad o2 sensor if it does buy new ones and replace them
  • The check engine light will come on. You can have it checked at auto zone.
  • To determine the proper operation of an O2 sensor you would hook a scan tool up the the vehicle then start and drive the vehicle untill it reaches operatiing temperature. Then, using the tool, look at the mV data output of the O2 sensor. The value should be rapidly changing between 200 and 800 mV, If the value is slow to respond, is stuck low or stuck high then there may be a problem with the sensor. Other problems with the veicle can afect the O2 sensor output. If the check engine light is on and there is an O2 sensor code stored (go to an Autozone) it is probably the sensor.
