Oh the irony, it's so delicious. There's at least three things wrong with your query.

"Seams" like a question you should ask yourself. Just don't forget the question mark;)

  • You mean like spelling "seems" correctly, or ending a question with a question mark?

Thank you for trying to uphold good communications standards. There are others that try to do the same. I like to count myself among them.

Look to yourself first and notice how you spell seems! And everyone doesn't need to be stuffy prudes in order to communicate on AB. This isn't a school classroom!

I can. I dare you to find 5 spelling mistakes I've made on AB...ever. Why did you misspell the word 'seems' and not end your question with appropriate punctuation?

Probably the same reason that you find spelling errors in the newspaper, magazines, books, etc. Along with people just not caring, there doesn't seem to be much self pride.

I think you meant "seems," and I think you meant to end that with a question mark, not a period. Remember, spelling and punctuation are important.

My theory is that 1) people are trying to type quickly to be the first to answer or 2) they just don't care

Just because you can't it doesn't mean nobody else can either.

I don't claim to be perfect or even close to it but at least when I ask a question or make a comment you can understand what I am asking or getting at.

When I type, I right click and correct it, but maybe all computers don't allow it. Also, some AB'ers don't bother with dictionaries, because they don't care about their spelling.

I don't know why it bothers me. Guess I'm tired of the rest of the world thinking Americans are stupid, and Americans not caring. A little PRIDE, people!

Well I noticed a lot of the people who are misspelling are teenagers, they could be typos that are easily missed, or people could be dylexic. Those are just some possibilities.

I think there are alot of people who are so dependent on spell check, they don't know how to really spell.

Different ages, different cultures, different schooling. people also type and don't check before submittimg. And these days people are now using text language more in everyday life then the proper spelling of words. a report released here has shown that university students are now writing in text in there assignments and exams. It is starting to become a problem in everyday life. It's not just this site, it's everywhere we look these days.

because some people cant spell as well as other people. to be honest i dont see a problem with it as long as people understand the question or answer.
