  • I haven't been there but I have to wonder if the water is totally stagnant. Don't mosquitoes have to have stagnant water to lay eggs. ???? invis. +5
  • The water is inhospitable to mosquitoes. First, the water is constantly moving through canals as the tides come in and out. They require stagnant or barely moving water to breed. Second, I'm pretty sure they are fresh water insects and of course, the canals are salt water. I was there many, many years ago and did not witness any sort of mosquito problem. (We slept outside.)
  • Most of the year, no. But it is a lagoon with islands and where the water doesn't get moved around a lot, they might have a chance to accumulate. Throughout the canals, there is too much movement to be much of a problem. They say that July is the worst mouth for mosquitoes, but some people never experience any problem with them, even in that month
  • The water isn't stagnant. They use ponds and swamps mostly for breeding.
