My mother's mother was murdered by an enraged man angry at his wife who had run over to my grandmother's. He shot and killed both went to his car and killed himself.

I never met my father's mother, she died before I was born. My mother's grandmother was a special lady. She lived with us for awhile after my mother died. She provided discipline because my father and grandfather were working. She could throw her pink hard soled slipper, I think around a corner, and hit us where ever we were. She was also a special friend. She taught me to like coffee, gave my my first drink, vodka or gin, I still like coffee but don't like either of the alcohol drinks. We would talk, for hours, at the kitchen table. She was only a waitress, when she worked outside of home but she knew everybody in town. She gave me my love of local history and for independent politics. Grandma hadn't learned to drive until she was over 50. My grandfather bought her a big blue De Soto. The car was old but it was sturdy and reliable. My grandfather intended for her to come out of any, crash the winner. Her driving wasn't the best but it was adventurous. She used to tell me that the yellow light meant "hurry up before the light turns red". That's one of the reasons I had to take my drivers test twice. We're lucky that she lived long enough to know my daughters. They loved her but didn't get enough time with her. In fact, there was not enough time for any of us.
