Velvet is soft and denim is more fashionable to ware....So for texture its velvet, and for everyday ware denim is the winner.

Denim .. it feels better on my skin, especially well worn denim. Velvet is a bit stiff, not of the softest texture and too thick feeling.

Both - together. I have a red, velvet jacket that I love to wear with well worn, faded denim.

Velvet. It feels nicer against my skin. Denim is thick and coarse. I prefer to cover myself in sensual fabrics.

If it's for work or casual wear, denim because it's durable and comfortable while being easy to wash.. If it's for a jacket for the cold, or evening, velvet because it's soft and I love the feel of it.
