    When I first heard the song I also thought it might be about drugs or suicide but then as I heard it again I thought that my assumption just wasnt quite right. I do believe it's speaking of abduction. The disease mentioned isn't about the act itself, it's about the people that commit the abductions. They are a disease on society, the sickness of their minds is a disease. The first verse is speaking directly of the parent's (or mother's) reaction the morning after the abduction, when she discovers that her child is gone. "Broken homes frome separation" That line is about the falling apart of the family when a child is lost. It's too common for parents that lose a child, whether through death or abduction, to blame each other, the remaining children, and even themselves to the point that the family is torn apart. I think it's mostly written in the perspective of a third person. Maybe as someone watching the news. "The world outside these walls may know your breathing/But you ain't coming in" It's that whole, "That could never happen to me" mentality. We all know it happens every day but never think it could happen to us.

    I think it has to do with understanding how that predetors are still out there even though you might feel safe there is always something wrong. It is a very emotional song and it makes you think of how we all could be targets.

    When I first heard the song, it seemed to me to be about suicide. It still seems that way to me, even though every one claims that Chris Daughtry intended it to be about abduction.

    suicide sounds right. I think there's something about abortion in there. Abortion is wrong, and ends lives before the children get a chance to grow and eat and run and play and have joy.

    It didn't keep my answer when I registered ;-;
    Anyway, according to a quote from www.alltheselives.org from Chris Daughtry about the song:

    "This song I wrote with Mitch [Allan]. We didn't want to write about the same old thing. He brought up the theme of child abduction and it became a really deep and emotional song. A song shedding light on the people out there that do that sort of thing. As a parent, this hit close to home because no parent would want to go through that."

    That seems to be the official interpretation. I also like the interpretation of a child being "kidnapped" by drugs and such. However you look at the meaning I think it's a very poignant song.

    How about all the people on AI who really think they're going to make it to the next round and then cry like their mother just died when they don't.

    Peoples dreams are so mislead these days.

    When I first herd the song, I also thought it was about suicide. The abduction would make sense, but "she can't breathe anymore" I would think would imply that "she" is in the room where the glass is spread across the floor. I think that by "youre not a person youre a disease" the song is talking about depression, because its true, depression is a disease. Maybe this isn't the case and it could be about anything. The words "They're gonna find you" would also make it likely that the song is about abduction, but I wouldn't call abduction a disease. So I dont totally know, but I hope it was helpful!(:
