My 2 1/2 year Holly, just shows sad when I say bye bye. But when I say lets Walk, Get the Mail, woo hoo, she runs to her halter location and jumps and jumps.

Oh yes, when I'm going some where and she cannot go, i just say, "Spunky, be back in a minute, you be good girl!" She never moves...but, if i say, "come on let's go!" She comes running...have a great day! +5

I trained her not to get over-excited about us coming or going.I don't like whining or jumping at all, plus I don't want to encourage any separation anxiety.

When they were still with me, all I had to do was pick up my shoes or purse or jacket and they were ready to go.

I had a dog when I was a kid. Dog definitely learned what some words meant: go to the kitchen, the school bus is coming, car ride, all provoked a response in him.
