I believe that marriage is what you make it. I also believe that unfortunately, marriage is not a guaranteed happily ever after. Whether you are dating, married, living together, or just friends you have to find someone you are compatible with and someone who is willing to put in the work that a good relationship requires! Don't be afraid of marriage. It can be good. It can be whatever you want it to be!

No, it's not just a piece of paper. It's a sign of your committment and vows. The divorce paper however is a way for you to be able to sleep better at night knowing that it's final.... Nd with friends like THAT why wouldn't you be freaked about getting married?!? Honestly! Just because that's what happened to them doesn't mean that that's what it's going to be like for you. Just follow simple steps that should be common sence.

    1) Be honest and open. Relationships work a LOT better with honesty.
    2) Don't cheat.
    3) Wait until you're ready to get married. You'll "know" when you've found him/her. It's instinct.
    4) Don't look at it as a ball nd chain, look at it as being lucky enough to spending the rest of your life with the one that you love and loves you.

    Etc etc etc....

You have put your finger on what is wrong in society and relationships today. People are getting married for selfish reasons, and when their needs do not get met in the relationship of marriage, they stray to someone else or they simply call it quits so they can find someone else.

The marriage legal document is part of society's protection of that relationship. People who have married each other because they truly love each other and NOT from selfish motives, have this relationship honored by themselves in their signing it and by society in its legal ramifications. This is very important.

We are all sexual beings. People marry to express love for the opposite sex in this sacred and meaningful way. Because there are those who would be harmful to another person emotionally, marriage is needed, an exclusive relationship with one person of the opposite sex that says, "I love you and ONLY you in this way. There IS no one else for me."

When people are "living together" which has permeated our society, usually the woman is hoping the man will marry her and the man is, in my opinion, for whatever reason, NOT a real man. He wants the sex and whatever else the woman is foolish enough to provide without the responsibilities that come with being a husband. Although there are many marriages that break up and end in divorce, living together will not solve that problem, but will only create other problems.

I would advise you not to worry about the failures of others and their marriages and divorces. I would advise you to find that special someone who you DO want to be a husband or wife to, and commit. Otherwise, my friend, your fears will come true.
