  • What is in your way?
  • if it is hard to reach. jack up car and access plug thru wheel well. i have done this with many trucks and vans.
  • I HAVE SAME PROBLEM ..HOW DO U REMOVE IT WHEN THE COLUMN IS IN THE WAY
  • I use a plug socket with the hex end on it and a box end wrench to loosen it. It's slow but it works. You might have to work from below if you have big hands.
  • I just did this and man is it the worst design ever! Ok first, take off the wheel, then lift the little flap. Then remove wire and attach the plug socket. I used a wrench on the end of the socket from this point and like an hour of cursing later, presto. It came free. CAUTION!! Half way through you'll need to remove the socket and loosen with your fingers or the socket will get pinned against the steering column. Good luck!
  • i went and bought a 5/8 spark plug scoket with a flex head built onto it and used and extension and ratchet 2 take mine out
  • I used the 5/8" spark plug socket and a 19 mm or 3/4" ratcheting wrench to turn the plug. The ratcheting wrench is worth the extra money here because it turns it into about a five minute process to get the plug out. I would reccommend a stubby wrench here because the full length ones tend to get caught on other things.
  • Pop the cover off the steering shaft towards the bottom. Some trucks have a pin but people change it out with a bolt.Mark shaft so it goes on the same way it came off.Remove it and pull up on the shaft. It will pop out and you can access anything on that side and it makes changeing manifold gaskets a breeze to.
