I am coaching a coach-pitch softball team and was wondering if it would be effective to take them to the batting cages and set it on slow pitch softball. would this be too fast? or would it help? they are 6-9 year old girls and most can hit well on a tee.

it won't be too fast, its just a normal slow pitch, should help them, if not you could pitch to them yourself.

even if they can just hit it off a t really well do they have the right form? It's supposed to be short to the ball when you make contact.(You pull the knob of the bat down to the ground to help.) You don't want to completly come around the ball. then you extend your arms through the ball. It's hard for younger girls to understand this but the earlier they learn it and understand the better players they will become. Batting in a cage is fine but it's not very game like. I am a softball player myslef and it is definatly different than a real game. You practice to play and live pitching is the best for the entire team. Especially the pitchers, catchers, and batters. Also in the cage the posittion of the machine has to be right if your a boy they pitch over hand so the ball goes from high to low and softball players come out from low and the pich should stay the same height or it might get higher. Every little detail is very crucial.
